What is Freestyle Skiing?

The sport of Freestyle Skiing is made up of the following disciplines; Moguls, Dual Moguls, Aerials, Big Air, Halfpipe, Skiercross.
Moguls can either be a love or hate thing for all skiers. Learning how to navigate a mogul field with style and speed is what we teach in Freestyle Skiing and can make moguls the best part of your skiing day. Skiers have to navigate their way down an icy, steep pitch while maintaining quality turns and performing two different jumps along the way. Skiers are judged on speed, turns and air.
D Unlike single moguls, a dual mogul competition is head to head, and only one skier moves on to the next round. Judges decide which skier wins by looking at speed, air, and turns. Just because you’re the first skier across the finish line doesn’t mean you have won the race! B Want to challenge gravity? Unlike snowboarding, skiers have more moves and the ability to launch higher off tabletops and jumps. Skiers can do variations of upright and inverted jumps with various combinations of grabs and rotations, as well as take off and land forwards or backwards!
H Skiers work there way through a half pipe performing maneuvers that can consist of combinations of grabs, spins and flips. Half pipe walls are vertical and can be up to 6 meters high. Skiers are judged on Degree of Difficulty (DD), Air, Style, Variety and Fluidity.
A Different from Big Air, Aerials is more traditional but not for the weak hearted. Skiers hurdle them selves at various kickers and get launched up to 50 feet in the air and perform a series of flips and twists. Skiers are judged on take-off, form in the air, and landing. Jumps are first mastered during the summer on water ramps.
Attention all Racers!! Looking for a new way to spice up your stick chasing habits? Skier Cross is like dirt bike motor cross. Skiers have to race through a course of banked turns, rollers and jumps in heats of four. Time is most important here, there is no formal judging. Courses are tight and fast so there is a good chance of mishaps and excitement throughout. May the fastest skier win!
